I Love you, You're my Family!

Soul Purpose

October 12, 2025   /   Joyce Henson   /   Winston Salem First Assembly

  • Ask Yourself:
    • What moves you?
    • What feeds your soul?
    • What has shaped you?
  • Today, we’re going to explore your Soul Purpose—and I’ll begin by sharing mine.
  1. Background & Foundations
  • I grew up in a family that loved, trusted, and served God.
  • My Father:
  • My Mother:
  • I am a reflection of both—vision + compassion—woven together by God’s purpose.

Salvation Moment:

  • Accepted Christ at age 7 on my dad’s lap.
  • My parents helped me know God personally.

📖 John 17:3

  • God created me (and you) out of love, not need.
  • We are reflections of His love and glory.
  • Our life, worship, creativity, and love should display who He is.
  1. To Know and Love God

📖 Matthew 22:37–38

  • Our soul’s primary purpose: To love God completely and center our lives on Him.

📖 Philippians 3:10 (NIV)

📖 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)

“And we all… are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory…”

  • Knowing God is the essence of our eternal purpose.
  • Transformation shows His work in us.
  • Have I always been successful? No.
  • But I’ve never given up—I continue to cling to what I know as I grow in Him.

III. To Love and Serve Others

📖 Matthew 22:37–40

📖 Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

📖 1 Peter 4:10–11 (NIV)

  • Your soul purpose is tied to how you bless and serve others.
  • Serving others is an expression of divine purpose.
  • We were made to serve and bring praise to God.
  1. To Live Out Your Unique Calling

📖 Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

Truth:

  • Every believer has the same ultimate purpose but a unique calling.
  • God’s mission for me: To help others become fully devoted disciples of Jesus.

Personal Journey-Why these matter:

  • My soul purpose became clear—to follow Jesus fully and reach others with the Gospel.

Reflection:

  • Teaching gave me the Word foundation to disciple others.
  • Music became ministry.
  • Marriage became partnership in God’s vision.
  • Missions broadened my world view.
  • Trials deepened my trust.

📖 John 15:16 (NIV

  1. The Takeaway
  • Running close to God’s heart fulfills your deepest desires.
  • What started in my childhood continues through my children and grandchildren.
  • Your soul purpose is a journey, not a single event.

📖 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
