Proverbs 11:25 NLT

The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

MORE SEED IN THE GROUND CREATES THE POTENTIAL FOR A LARGER HARVEST.  (Paint the picture of stingy planting)

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 MSG

6-7 Remember: A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving.

THE PROBLEM IS THIS- WHEN WE LOOK AT WHAT’S IN OUR HANDS AS OUR HARVEST INSTEAD OF OUR SEED, WE WILL HOARD IT.

WHAT I HAVE IS NOT THE HARVEST I’VE EARNED, WHAT I HAVE IS THE SEED I AM SUPPOSED TO SOW.

BELIEVERS SCATTER SEEDS OF GENEROSITY TO REAP A HARVEST OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Parable of the Three Servants

Matthew 25:14-30 *JESUS IS SPEAKING*

14 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone.

15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag,[a] each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

IF YOU CAN’T SEE WHAT’S IN YOUR HAND, YOU WON’T SOW WHAT’S IN YOUR HAND

WHAT IF INSTEAD OF SEEING EVERYTHING THAT’S NOT IN OUR HAND AS BEING LOST WHAT WE’RE OWED, WE SAW IT ALL AS SEEDS SOWN?

16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more

  • SOW THE SEED YOU HAVE FOR THE SEASON YOU’RE IN.

17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money

20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’

23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’

  1. JUST BECAUSE WE CALL HIM MASTER BY NAME, DOES NOT MEAN WE AUTOMATICALLY LIVE ACCORDINGLY.
    1. Matthew 7:21-23 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

28 “‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. 29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

TOO OFTEN I TREAT WHAT I’VE BEEN ENTRUSTED WITH AS NOT ENOUGH.

  • Ephesians 1:7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. 8 He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.
  • 1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life
