John 1:1-3
After Jesus’ ascension into heaven, the Holy Spirit would rest upon Him at Pentecost with the other disciples, – as we have seen in the book of Acts he would be used by God to heal the sick, preach the Gospel, and be a key leader in the church. According to tradition he would be tortured for his faith in Christ, and eventually be exiled on the island of Patmos where he received the revelation from Jesus.
This John who got a front row seat to the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ – records for all of eternity in this book, and answers for you today: Who is Jesus Christ?
Jesus Christ is…
1) The of God (John 1:1-2; Genesis 1:1; Hebrew 1:1-2)
• Jesus was with God – (John 1:1 – “In the beginning was the Word”)
• Jesus was with God – (John 1:1, 2 – “the Word was with God…He was with God in the beginning.”)
• Jesus is the of God – (John 1:1 – “the Word was God”)
2) The of the Universe (John 1:3; Genesis 1-2; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrew 1:2-3; Revelation 3:14)
Impact Point: This Christmas season, to Jesus – the One who created you and knows you by name. (Ps 139; Isa 43:1, 45:4, Jer 1:5; Matt 10:30; John 10:3)
