Was there something you had never heard before or something you had a question about? What was one of the best gifts you have ever received? What made it so special? How did you protect that gift? What does “to treasure something” mean to you? Do you treasure Jesus more than anything? If so, what is the evidence of that? What are the fruits that show evidence of that? What did Abraham, the ancestor of all Jews, discover about being justified (v.1-5)? What did David, the greatest king of Israel, discover about forgiveness (v. 6-8)? Paul is careful to distinguish between grace and works. What is that distinction? Why did Paul emphasize the fact that Abraham was not justified by works? Why is that important for us? Read the 10 Commandments in Exodus 20:1-17. How is God’s measure of goodness found in each one? Read Philippians 3:7-9. What is Paul confessing here? Are you able to confess the same? If not, what would it take for you to do so? Pray about it: Meditate on God’s Word (Romans 4) and this week’s message. Adoration: What can I praise God for in light of what this teaches me? Confession: What sin can I confess because of what this teaches me? Thanksgiving: What can I thank God for in light of what he has done? Supplication: What do I need to ask of God in order to grow in light of this? DID YOU KNOW? Double click a sentence in your note above to highlight it or add your own note below it.
