A. The resurrection !
1. History is built on testimony by ancient historians who were serious about this.
2. Luke 1:1-4 (NLT) 1Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. 2They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples. 3Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus, 4so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.
3. Mark 15:21 (NLT) A passerby named Simon, who was from Cyrene, was coming in from the countryside just then, and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross. (Simon was the father of Alexander and Rufus.)
4. In all four gospels, the first eyewitnesses at the empty tomb were .
5. In the ancient world—women were not regarded as credible .
6. Luke 24:10-11 (NLT) 10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and several other women who told the apostles what had happened. 11But the story sounded like nonsense to the men, so they didn’t believe it.
B. The resurrection everything!
1. Christianity is the only faith that did not develop over time!
2. Matthew 28:8-9 (NLT) 8The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message. 9And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him.
C. The resurrection is deeply !
1. Hebrews 9:27 (NLT) Each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment.
2. The most amazing “Wow!” in your life will be the moment right after you .
3. I John 5:11-12 (NAS) 11And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
4. John 1:12 (NAS) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.
