Conversation
- What is one thing that stood out from the service last Sunday?(MULTILINE)
- Describe a time when you really wanted something (that you eventually obtained). How did you feel while waiting? What words capture the emotions you felt when it finally happened?(MULTILINE)
Consideration
- As part of your S.I.P.S. (Sing, Investigate, Pray, Stay) for today, read Luke 19:28-38 and then answer the following questions.
- Why is this called the “Triumphal Entry”? In what ways would it be considered triumphant?(MULTILINE)
- Imagine how the crowd felt. They waited for their deliverer from the Lord. The Romans oppressed them in every way. They wanted freedom. Then, the miracle-working traveling preacher came into Jerusalem. What emotions do you think the crowd felt?(MULTILINE)
- How does this passage speak to Jesus’ prophetic knowledge? How about His royal lineage?(MULTILINE)
- If we read to verse 40, we find the Pharisees calling on Jesus to rebuke His disciples for their words. What do you think Jesus intended the Pharisees to understand by saying, “I tell you, if these keep quiet, the stones would cry out” (Luke 19:40)?(MULTILINE)
- How do you respond when Jesus does or doesn’t do something you expect? What should we expect from the Lord? What should the Lord expect from us?(MULTILINE)
Connection
- What does it mean that a Christian lives under the open hand of Heaven?(MULTILINE)
- Who would you be in the Palm Sunday crowd: a Pharisee (religious, but only willing to accept a king you want), caught up in the excitement, or a disciple of Jesus? How do you know?(MULTILINE)
