Paul’s main point = The Gospel of Jesus is for our salvation.
The Gospel is the power of God -> because it gives us the righteousness of God -> which comes through faith in Jesus.
What is the first step Paul takes in getting us to his main point? The answer: he begins by explaining that we have a real problem we cannot solve on our own.

Our problem is kind of like a dishwasher that doesn’t drain.
What does a broken dishwasher that won’t drain have to do with our human condition? We essentially have the same problem.
“The dishes may look clean, but they aren’t really because they’re sitting in a pool of dirty water.”

Not only do I have a sin problem I can’t solve, but I also pass judgment on the sin I see in others.

So what is the answer to my human condition of sin which I cannot solve?
The answer to our human condition is Jesus, Himself.
How do we get to Jesus or how does Jesus and His righteousness get to us?

Three things/riches God offers every sinful human being.
1. Kindness
2. Forbearance = Self-Restraint
3. Patience = Long-Suffering

What is God’s kindness meant to lead us to? Repentance!
The pathway to Jesus is the pathway of repentance.
Repentance is two things.
1. Turning back to God
2. Moving toward God.
