Who Touched Me?

Luke 8:40-48

40 Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. 41 Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying. As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. 45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” 47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”

She Had Run Out of Options.  The woman had a desperate need.

In Mark 5:26 (Parallel) It says “She suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.”

Desperation is often the doorway to deliverance.

When you’re out of options, you are perfectly positioned for a miracle.

She was Wearing a Label.

Leviticus 15:25–27 says: “When a woman has a discharge of blood for many days… she will be unclean as long as she has the discharge… anything she lies or sits on will be unclean… anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening.”

Jesus defines you by your potential.

When Jesus shows up, Nothing is impossible

She Experienced Restoration.

Mark 10:27 reminds us: “With man this is impossible, but with God; all things are possible with God.”

There is difference between proximity and pursuit.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

Satan knows your name but calls you by your sin. God knows your sin but calls you by your name.

What if your current crisis isn’t punishment, but preparation a setup for God to show up?

What would it look like to let faith override fear this week?
