7 Mindsets of the Unstoppable Church

  • Jesus matters more than my own life

Or, Jesus is my life. Mom Nothing else matters more than Jesus. Jesus is not some side hustle. We don’t try to fit him in. Jesus and the presence of God had not only marked them, but ruined them for anything else!

““And now I am bound by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem. I don’t know what awaits me, except that the Holy Spirit tells me in city after city that jail and suffering lie ahead. But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭20‬:‭22‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The apostles had a sense that nothing had ever been more important in the history of man than the cause they had been assigned

“All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had.” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭4‬:‭32‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  • Zero FEAR of man

“But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭5‬:‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  • Great FEAR, AWE, and WONDER of God

“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭2‬:‭42‬-‭43‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Great fear gripped the entire church and everyone else who heard what had happened. The apostles were performing many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers were meeting regularly at the Temple in the area known as Solomon’s Colonnade.” ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

(Why I stayed pure. Because I did not want to tempt a daughter of God to sin)

  • Persecution is Heaven’s “high five.”

“They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go. The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus.” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭5‬:‭40‬-‭41‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Persecution is a badge of HONOR

Will we ALLOW persecution to SHAPE us???

All rebels out there, I have some good news for you. There are times when we obey God where we will actually make trouble. What does that mean? There are times when we are called to be troublemakers. Boy I know you could take that the wrong way if you’re so inclined so be very careful with that.

When was the last time you got in trouble because of Jesus? Yes, we can have man’s favor and yes, that can be part of the blessings of God, but there are other times when following God will cause persecution, slander, and backstabbing…to you!

“Saul was one of the witnesses, and he agreed completely with the killing of Stephen. A great wave of persecution began that day, sweeping over the church in Jerusalem; and all the believers except the apostles were scattered through the regions of Judea and Samaria. (Some devout men came and buried Stephen with great mourning.) But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church. He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison. But the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they went.” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NLT‬

  •  God uses and values ALL OF US! Men and women. Young and old. Every tribe and tongue.

“‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike— and they will prophesy.” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭2‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The world seems incapable of lifting up one group of people without putting down another group of people. As people of God, we do not play those silly games.

“Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God. Then Peter asked, “Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?”” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10‬:‭44‬-‭47‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  • A commitment to fellowship

“They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.” Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭2‬:‭46‬-‭47‬ ‭NLT‬‬
