Designed for Forgiveness
From the very beginning, we were created in the image of a forgiving God. Genesis 1:27 tells us that we are made in His image. That means we were built to reflect His character.
Luke 17:1 Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come
Luke 17:3 So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister[a] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. 4 Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
Verse 5 5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
Unforgiveness doesn’t protect your heart, it imprisons it.
So What do you do? How do you forgive?
Matt 5:43-44 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you
Eph 4:32 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Matthew 6:14-15 this is pretty much a mic drop 14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
God Commands Forgiveness
Forgiveness Is Not Forgetting
Forgiveness is Not Fair
1 john 1:99 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Forgiven people become forgiving people.
Faith enables you to see freedom where others only see offense. And it starts with seeing your freedom from what you deserve. I not asking how much forgiveness they deserve, I am asking how much freedom you desire.
So how is your flow?
You cannot experience the freedom of being forgiven while refusing to forgive.
