An Approach for Daily Relational Prayer
(Awakening to God. Adapted from Dr. John Coe: Prayers of Intention)

1 – Prayer of Presentation

Where I present myself to God and renew my mind

Romans 12:1-2 (& 2 Corinthians 3:18)
1 Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Prayer: Lord God, I come to you, intending to be present with You. My life is not my own. I offer my whole being to You as a living sacrifice of worship for Your purposes. Help me to not conform to the values of this world. I want to know You and
live according to Your perfect will. God, will you transform me by renewing my thinking as I focus on Your Truth, and as I gaze on the glory of Christ?

2 – Prayer of Recollection

Where I remember my Identify in Christ, as God’s deeply loved child

Galatians 2:20a (& 1 John 3:1a)
I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.

Prayer: Father, remind me who I am; in my identity – I am Yours! My “self” has died and my true life is “in Christ” as Christ
lives in me. I am your deeply loved child, saved by grace. I am rescued, forgiven, and fully accepted. I am so grateful! My
calling today is to abide in Christ and bear fruit for my Father. As I belong to You; help me to receive and reflect Your love.

3 – Prayer of Honesty

Where I humble myself before God who searches my heart

Psalm 139:23-24 (& James 4:6b)
23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Prayer: Oh God, what is going on in my heart? Where do I need Your grace today? Would you reveal to me any place that I am deceiving myself, being dishonest or prideful? I want to walk humbly with You, my God, live in integrity, and exalt You alone.

Where I seek God’s wisdom and depend on God’s Spirit
Proverbs 2:3,6 (& Romans 8:26)
3 … cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding… 6 For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth comes knowledge and understanding

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I don’t always know how to pray. Would you guide my thoughts and intercede for me? You know where I need Your wisdom; You know where I need discernment. Guide me in what is on Your heart for me today.

Where I trade my anxieties for courage
1 Peter 5:7 (& Deuteronomy 31:6)
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You care for me more than I can imagine. You know my anxieties, insecurities, and stressors – would you take them? I’m casting them onto You as I become aware of them. I trust that You will be with me in all I will pursue today; please provide me with the courage I need to glorify you!
