The Good Way – STUDY GUIDE
/ Mt Gilead ChurchIcebreaker: Share an “old-school,” “good way” practice or value you appreciate as your faith matures.
Sermon Title: Mold Me – “The Good Way” – Jeremiah 6:16
Group Discussion:
Read Jeremiah 6:16 & Matthew 11:28-30 – God talking and people walking or balking: How do these passages challenge us to respond when the Lord speaks? Discuss what it can look like to return to the “ancient paths” in our daily lives (i.e., foundational teachings found in scripture).
Read Jeremiah 6:13-15 – Ancient context and characters: Jeremiah lived in a time when God’s people rejected His truth and instruction considering it outdated. Discuss ways we can see similar attitudes in our culture today. How should we respond when His truth is dismissed as irrelevant?
Read Deuteronomy 5:33, 10:12-13, & 30:16 – Ancient connections: Fear the Lord. Discuss how these “ancient connections” help us understand what it truly means to “fear” and walk in obedience.
Read Jeremiah 7:22-24 – Going backward rather than forward: Discuss warning signs that a person or community might be “going backward” spiritually. Share practical examples of warning signs…
Read Jeremiah 6:16 again with emphasis on “ask for the ancient paths” – To move forward Gods people needed to go backward: Discuss the reality that moving forward in faith sometimes means going backward to God’s original design. How might this help us find “the good way” and walk in it?
Read Acts 4:11-12 & 1 John 5:20 – Young people seeking old ways? Discuss your thoughts on whether young people today are increasingly drawn to biblical values. How can we respond by letting God lead us back to His timeless truth? And how can we encourage young people to do the same?
