/ Mt Gilead ChurchIcebreaker: Share how the way you “see Jesus” has shifted throughout your faith journey.
Sermon Title: Life in the Red Letters – “Seeing Jesus” – John 12:20-50
Group Discussion:
Read John 14:6-11 & John 17:1-5 – Jesus repeatedly revealed Himself in connection with his Father. How does Jesus describe His relationship with the Father in these verses? Discuss why Jesus may have spoken so often about His Father even when people struggled to comprehend the dynamics (i.e., Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
Read John 12:23-28, 30-32, 35-36, & 44-49 – Jesus repeatedly revealed Himself in connection with His mission. Discuss how Jesus came to (1) die sacrificially, (2) defeat Satan, (3) show us how to live, (4) free us from sin, and (5) show us the Father. Receiving these truths I faith, what should it look like for us to live with that same sense of purpose as we continue our journey as disciples?
Read the “I Am” verses listed below. Jesus repeatedly revealed Himself in connection with people. Share which of these verses resonates with you most in this season of your life and why. How do these truths help us to see Jesus as the inexhaustible source of all true goodness, satisfaction, contentment, and life? Discuss how these truths should encourage us as believers, both in our own faith journey and as we disciple others in their “coming to” and “continuing” in faith.
