Sermon Title: Mold Me – “Make it Personal” – Jeremiah 1:1-19

Group Discussion:

Read Jeremiah 1:16 & Jeremiah 6:15 – God made it personal with His people. God confronted His people for their actions and their inability to feel shame, so what does this tell us about the Lord’s profoundly personal relationship with His people? Discuss how these verses, and what we learned from Jeff’s sermon, can inform us about our walk with the Lord today as His people.

Read Jeremiah 1:4, Jeremiah 1:9, & Jeremiah 1:17-19 – God made it personal with His prophet. God spoke directly to Jeremiah’s identity, personally equipping and preparing him for opposition, so what does this reveal about the Lord’s personal investment in those He calls? Discuss ways that the Lord may call us today with examples of what it should look like for us to trust and respond faithfully.

Read Jeremiah 18:18, Jeremiah 20:1-2, & Jeremiah 26:11 – Jeremiah’s audience made it personal. These verses reveal how the people rejected Jeremiah’s message and attacked him personally; why do you think God’s absolute truth often provokes such hostile resistance? Discuss ways can we remain faithful and assertive when our obedience to His call results in hostile opposition.

Read Jeremiah 11:18-19 & Jeremiah 13:17 – Jeremiah himself made it personal. Jeremiah experienced profound suffering because of his faithfulness to God’s call. Discuss how Jeremiah’s willingness to endure personal hardship for God’s purposes might encourage and challenge us in our own faith journey, especially as we make disciples and serve in an increasingly desperate culture.

Read Jeremiah 17:7-8 & Jeremiah 29:12-13 – You make it personal. Discuss ways we can move beyond surface-level faith to foster a relationship with the Lord that is rooted in profound trust. Also, discuss how we can articulate these strategies as we witness to and disciple others.
