DON’T TAKE THE BAIT…THE TRAP OF LIVING OFFENDED

April 27, 2025   /   Mountain Park Church

Luke 17:1-4 NKJV

17 Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come,
but woe to him through whom they do come!  2  It would be better for him if a
millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that
he should offend one of these little ones.  3  Take heed to yourselves. If your
brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.  4  And if he
sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you,
saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”

Fact #1: “Offenses will certainly come”

Fact #2: “But woe to the one through whom they come!”

Hebrews 12:15 NIV

15  See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that  to cause trouble and defile many.

God’s plans for your future are too to hold onto an offense from your past.

Proverbs 19:11 NIV

11  A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

1. people overlook offenses.
2. When you overlook an offense, you keep moving .

If any man thinks ill of you, do not be angry with him, for you are worse than he
thinks you to be. – Charles H. Spurgeon

3. To overlook an offense means to it.

Proverbs 10:19 NIV

It is nobler to forgive and let the offense pass. To let an injury rankle in your
bosom and to meditate revenge is to keep old wounds open and to make new
ones. Better forget and forgive. Charles H. Spurgeon

4. To step over an offense, you choose to God and others.

Romans 12:17-21 NIV
