The Gospel of John – The Profound and Powerful Love of God – John 3:16-21

March 8, 2026   /   Life Stream

This morning we’re going to see four things:

  1. The and of the gospel
  2. What moved God to such lengths
  3. Why some while others it.
  4. How the gospel should the way we live.

__

John 3:3

… can see (experience) the kingdom of God unless they are born again.

John 3:5

… can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.

__

What we believe about Jesus is as important as believing in Jesus.

__

John 3:14

14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

__

To be bitten was to die.
To look in faith was to live.

__

John 3:15

“That everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

__

Exclusive:
No one enters the Kingdom without being born again.

Inclusive:
Everyone who believes may enter.

__

What was in the heart of God that motivated Him to send His one and only Son Jesus to die on the cross for the world’s sins?

Love.

__

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

__

World (Kosmos):

People hostile toward .
People hostile toward .

__

God loves a world full of people hostile towards Him and each other.

__

God Loves sinners.

__

The cross demonstrates God’s love.

Romans 5:8
“God demonstrates his love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

__

The cross defines what love is.

1 John 4:9–10
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an for our sins.”

__

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the (hostile) world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

__

You Are Loved

__

Did you know that Jesus didn’t come into the world to condemn the world?

__

John 3:17

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

__

John 3:15 – …everyone who believes …

John 3:16 – …whoever believes …

John 3:18 – Whoever believes in him is not condemned …

__

John 3:18

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already…”

__

If you will not you will never be .

__

Romans 8:1

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…

__

That is so unfair…

Bad people should go to hell.

Good people should go to heaven.

__

Eph 2:8-9

8 For it is by grace you have been saved—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

__

Why do some people believe and others don’t?

__

John 3:19–20:

“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.”

__

Jesus is the Light.

__

Rejecting Jesus, the Light of the world, is an indication that we prefer darkness.

__

Step into the light.

__

John 3:21 says,

“But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”

__

1 John 3:23

23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

__

We have been sent as messengers of salvation not condemnation.
