Looking For Love: Finding God’s Design for Love and Relationships

Chosen But Still Searching

(Judges 13:3-5) The angel of the LORD APPEARED to her and said, “You are barren and childless, but you are going to become pregnant and give birth to a son. 4 Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean.5 You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.”

(Judges 13:24-25) The woman gave birth to a boy and named him Samson. He grew and the LORD blessed him, and the Spirit of the LORD began to stir him..

The wrong relationships don’t just break your heart, they break your destiny.

1. His calling was established his relationships

(Colossians 2:10) you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

When you are in Christ:

  • You don’t have to prove yourself
  • You don’t have to chase validation
  • You don’t have to add something to your life to be accepted

2. When Identity Is , Desires Get Loud

(Judges 14:1-3) Samson went down to Timnah and saw a young Philistine woman. When he returned, he said to his father and mother, “I have seen a Philistine woman in Timnah; now get her for me as my wife.” 3 His father and mother replied, “Isn’t there an acceptable woman among your relatives or among all our people? Must you go to the uncircumcisedPhilistines to get a wife?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me. She’s the right one for me.”

3 attitudes that make strong men, weak:

Lust: “I see it, I want it”

Entitlement- “I deserve it”

Pride- “I can handle it”

(1 John 2:16) For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

3 attitudes that make weak men, strong:

Self control

Contentment

Humility

3. Love someone we find, someone we know

(1 John 4:7-9) Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this, the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

(John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
