A Flourishing Family

1. is our center

(Colossians 3:16) Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

What the Local church does for the next generation:

  1. Teaches and preaches God’s word so our kids can separate truth from the lies
  2. Provides Godly relationships that encourages our kids to live out their faith in God
  3. Creates opportunities to serve and lead here at Legacy Church we allow for jr serve team starting in middle school
  4. Provides environments for your children to encounter God– right now in Legacy kid’s they are learning the Bible
  5. Partners with families to equip and encourage– the enemy wants to destroy the family unit- we are here to strengthen and equip families

2. is our attitude

(Colossians 3:16) Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

3. is our Culture

(Colossians 3:18) Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

Submission as a New Testament believer:

  1. We submit to God- James 4:7, Hebrews 12:9, Ephesians 5:24
  2. We submit to one another-Ephesians 5:21
  3. We submit to governing authorities- Romans 13, Titus 3, 1 Peter 2:13
  4. We submit to spiritual leadership- Hebrews 13:17

(Colossians 3:1) Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

4. is our foundation

(Ephesians 5:25) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

How did Christ love the church?

  1. Jesus came down to us
  2. Jesus lead despite pressure that came from the culture
  3. Jesus died for the church
  4. Obedience is our response

(Colossians 3:20) Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

6. is our calling

(Colossians 3:21) Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

(Proverbs 18:21) The tongue has the power of life and death

(Matthew 3:17) “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Everyone needs to hear:

Words of acceptance “this is my son”

Words of affection “I love you”

Words of affirmation “I’m proud of you”
