12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness,13 and he was in the wilderness forty days, being temptedby Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

THREE THINGS WE GLEAN FROM JESUS:

1.

Mark 1:9 (NIV)At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Matthew 3:14 (NKJV) says, And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”

John 1:29 (NIV)The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Matthew 3:7 (NIV) John saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

Water Baptism wasn’t about the , it was about the .

Matthew 3:15 (NIV) Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.

Isaiah 64:6-7 (NLT)We are all infected and impure with sin.  When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags.  Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.  7 Yet no one calls on your name or pleads with you for mercy.  Therefore, you have turned away from usand turned us overto our sins.

Romans 1:18-25 (NIV)18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NIV)I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

Hebrews 3:7-12 (NIV)7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice,8 do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness,9 where your ancestors tested and tried me,though for forty years they saw what I did.  10 That is why I was angry with that generation;I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’  11 So I declared on oath in my anger,‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”
12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

As Jesus stands in those waters, do you know what He is saying to you?

CONCLUSION:

Jesus is into His life.

Galatians 2:20 (NIV)I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

PRAYER:

COMMUNION:

1 Corinthains 11:23-32 (NIV)23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.32 Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.
