Where do we go from here?
September 15, 2025 / Hope Chapel WestsideWhere do we go from here?
- By now most of you have heard that about Charlie Kirk being shot and killed while being hosted on a college campus. If you aren’t familiar with his name. He was an outspoken Christian who often engaged in debates on college campuses.
- What was so controversial about Charlie Kirk? He believed what you and I believe. He brought the Christian worldview into college campus and willing answered Questions openly.
- But so many have developed a negative opinion about him based on some a few edited videos taken out of context. And I know what that feels like I have had it happen to me.
- If You and I had his platform and his reach we would get the same reaction. Why? Because we live in a lost world. Were people are under the influences of dark forces beyond their comprehension.
- I enjoyed watching him interact with kindness and respect to those who disagreed with him.
- He gave hope through the organization turning point USA to many young men and women particularly Christians who have been bullied into silence because of their viewpoints by their teachers and fellow students.
- He was respected even among those who disagree with him for how open he was
- Yes he became involved in politics and He winsomely argued for conservative viewpoints. But most of all he stood for Jesus Christ
- Over the next few days many condolences and prayers were poured out for his family, many Christians encouraged their fellow believers to not back down but be bold for the truth. Even his opponents were shocked and saddened by what had happened.
- However, a minority got more than their fair share of media exposure as thousands of them celebrated his death.
- The pure evil on display of those who would rejoice in the death of someone simply because they promoted a different worldview is shocking to our conscience. And it should wake us up to the condition of our world.
The question is what’s the proper reaction to this moment. where do we go from here? When they crucified Jesus he said father forgive them for they know not what they do. Now understand that not all of Charlies supporters are Bible believers he brought a lot of different people together from all walks of life so there are many who are angry and wanting to create a backlash. However we need to cool our jets and follow the instructions we have been given.
1. We don’t rejoice over evil and the death of our enemies. We are called to be different.
Proverbs 24:17–18
“Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the LORD will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them.”
Matthew 5:43–45
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven…”
1 Corinthians 13:6
“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”
1 Peter 3:9
“Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”
We don’t seek vengeance or react in the flesh to those who come against us.
Always keep in mind our battle is not against people but the forces which have taken them captive.
Understand that their mockery of our faith comes from spiritual blindness.
Get used to standing for truth even when you’re in the minority.
Being a real friend means honestly with genuine kindness sharing your views according to God’s Word.
d I know what that feels like I have had it happen to me.
