Romans 16: Final Thoughts
A Commendation (1-2)
- NOTICE: There should be no strangers or loneliness in the church family.
- ASK: Does Grace Point feel like a family to you?
(MULTILINE REVEAL TINY)
Long-time Companions (3-5a)
- NOTICE: These three knew each other for many years and in many circumstances.
- ASK: Have you discovered the immeasurable value of a set of Christian friends that you’ve known like that?
(MULTILINE REVEAL TINY)
Notable Reputations (5b-15; 22-23).
- NOTICE: Most of these men and women weren’t notable enough to have their stories included in the New Testament, but “their reputation preceded them”.
- NOTICE: How many Grace Pointers could be included in a letter like this!
- ASK: What is your reputation in your church family?
(MULTILINE REVEAL TINY)
An Awkward Interlude (16).
- NOTICE: Paul was reminding the Roman church, full of all kinds of different people, to express family unity, forgiveness, and peace.
- ASK: Why don’t we find it natural to express these things? What if we did?
(MULTILINE REVEAL TINY)
One Last Warning (17-18)
- NOTICE: Intent is as much of a problem as content.
- ASK: What is your intent as a part of this church family?
(MULTILINE REVEAL TINY)
One Last Appeal (19-20)
- NOTICE: A lot of us like learning new things more than obeying what we already know.
- ASK: Would you rather learn something new than obey what you already know?
- NOTICE: We can all get lazy. Complacent. Forgetful.
- ASK: Is it important that you are wise and innocent in the right things?
- NOTICE: The peace of God does not evade issues or avoid action, and we are not left alone to fight alone.
- ASK: Are you fighting for peace in your life, your family’s life, and the world around you with the grace of Christ?
(MULTILINE REVEAL TINY)
A Doxology (25-27)
To the only wise God, through His Son Jesus Christ, be the glory forever!
