Walking in God’s Strength

October 6, 2024   /   First Baptist Russell

We can’t walk in our own strength – we must learn to walk in – neither can .

The reason why: it is a battle we are in.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Ephesians 6:10-13

Paul is in Rome awaiting – under arrest.

We access God’s strength by putting on the full of God.

Remember: when we started our Christian life we didn’t stroll onto a playground –

we stepped onto a harsh .

Paul’s spiritual battle cry sounds out in:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Ephesians 6:10

In our own strength we are no for Satan.

and what is the boundless greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance  with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, Ephesians 1:19-20

Our enemy is , his are relentless, but the of Christ can us.

How do we utilize God’s strength?

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Ephesians 6:11

Spiritual battles require armor.

Notice – this is God’s , not yours.

1st Why do we need the ?

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

The presence and power of this battle cannot be detected through our senses.

  • Our struggle is against a hierarchy of .
  • This force that is against us is .

We see of this depravity in our every day.

2nd The effects of wearing the armor

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Ephesians 6:11-13

  1. God’s armor us to “stand firm”.

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

  1. God’s armor allows us to Satan’s schemes.

“Schemes” =

Satan can and our weaknesses.

  1. God’s armor allows us to be for what .

Is there some good news about spiritual warfare?

  • Satan is than God.

You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

  • Satan’s schemes cannot God’s armor

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5 NIV

  • Satan’s evil cannot over God’s .

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19

If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy that person; for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are. 1 Corinthians 3:17

in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit. Ephesians 2:21-22

Let’s hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let’s consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds, not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:23-25
