From Passover to the Lord’s Supper

Four ways in which Jesus’ Last Supper in Luke 22:14-20 has lasting significance for us in the Lord’s Supper:

1. Jesus’ Last Supper demonstrates His great love for us and the Lord’s Supper reminds us of this great love (v. 15)

2. Jesus’ Last Supper holds out the promise of a future supper in the kingdom, a promise repeated in the Lord’s Supper (vv. 16, 18-19)

3. Jesus’ Last Supper transforms Passover into the Lord’s Supper (vs. 19-20)

4. Jesus’ Last Supper beautifully pictures the gospel, a picture repeated at every Lord’s Supper (vv. 19-20)
