We will see together two proofs that God is just in His merciful election of sinners unto salvation:

God’s merciful election of sinners is entirely independent of human merit (vv. 14-16)
God’s merciful election of sinners is entirely dependent upon His perfect desire, purpose, and glory (vv. 17-18)
