The Sound: The Beginnings
Just because you have a right to say it doesn’t mean it’s right to say!
In Ezekiel 37: God gives the prophet a vision of a valley filled with very dry bones — the remains of a defeated, hopeless people. (Israel)
How did Ezekiel get there?
Start going back to Egyptian Captivity
1. The Exodus (Moses)
- Moses leads Israel out of Egypt after 400+ years of captivity,
- Wander 40 years in the wilderness.
2. Conquest of Canaan (Joshua)
- Israel enters Promised Land, led by Joshua
- Land divided among the 12 tribes
3. Period of the Judges: Tribal leaders plus prophetic deliverers. They carried a divine assignment to bring Israel back to covenant faithfulness.
- Approx. 300–350 years
- Israel ss a loose tribal confederation
- Cycle of sin, oppression, deliverance, and peace
4. United Kingdom (Saul, David, Solomon) (about 110 years)
- Israel united because of fear and frustration — God allowed it.
- Kings Saul, David, Solomon
- Kingdom divides after Solomon’s death
- Isreal: Northern Kingdom
- Judah: Southern Kingdom

Divided Kingdoms
- Israel (north): lasted ~209 years before Assyria.
- Judah (south): lasted ~345 years before Babylon.
Reason:
- Idolatry: giving worship, trust, or devotion that belongs to God to someone, or something else.
- Rejecting God’s prophets: Refusing to hear the truth, believe and obey the message God speaks through His chosen messengers.
- Covenant Unfaithfulness: Breaking the binding relationship that God established with His people.
Ezekiel Sent!
Ezekiel 2:3-4 (NIV)
Ezekiel Sent! Hebrew šālaḥ
- He is repeatedly used it over 60 times.
- Ezekiel on a prophetic mission.
What That Means?
- Ezekiel wasn’t just a man with an opinion.
- He was a divinely appointed messenger.
- His role was to speak God’s Word to a rebellious people, even if they didn’t want to listen.
Ezekiel sent prophet of God with a prophetic mission
- Judgment: why they were in exile
- Hope: God would restore them.

The Condition: The bones are very dry (v. 2), meaning they’ve been lifeless for a long time — a picture of total hopelessness.
The Command: God tells Ezekiel, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord” (v. 4).
Ezekiel obeys,

Sound symbolizes Israel’s death and resurrection.
Why Sound Matters
The sound of rattling bones was not the fulfillment — it was the beginning.
Before any breath, before any life, before any army — there was a sound. That sound was Heaven’s signal that hopelessness was ending, and resurrection was beginning.
In the Bible, sounds mark the beginning of a God movement.
(MULTILINE REVEAL SMALL)
1 Kings 18:41 (NIV)
- No rain for 3 ½ yrs
- God’s judgment for Israel’s idolatry of Baal worship.
- You’re not needed… Why? “There is a sound”
- Just After the Carmel Showdown
- Fire consumed Elijah’s sacrifice, proving that Yahweh was the true God.
“Go, eat and drink,”
- Elijah: “I don’t need you!”
- Why? sound of a heavy rain.
1 Kings 18:42-43 (NIV)
- What’s he looking for? RAIN CLOUDS!!
- Why 7 times? There’s a sound…. But no proof!
1 Kings 18:44 (NIV)
“before the rain stops you.”
- WHY? Heard a Sound
Elijah knew a sound marks the beginning of a God movement.

2 Samuel 5:24 (NIV)
- David newly anointed king (2 Sam. 5:1–5)
- Philistine threat: Twice the Philistines came against him
- The Sound in the Trees: wait for a sound of marching in the treetops
- The sound symbolized the army of the Lord (angelic hosts) moving ahead of Israel into battle.
- The Sound was the Beginning of a Victory!
- Heaven moved first — Israel simply followed the sound
Those sounds in the Bible were signals — divine alerts that something was shifting. And today, we are also hearing sounds
- Sound of violence tells us our culture is broken.
- Sound of this current chaos tells us that truth has fallen in the streets.
- The sound of sorrow reminds us that life is fragile.
Church, could it be that what we’re hearing now — in the midst of sorrow, shaking, and uncertainty — is actually the sound of beginnings?
We need to realize that..
(MULTILINE REVEAL SMALL)
1. Faith Hears What the Natural Cannot See
- Elijah heard the sound of rain before there was a cloud.
- Faith hears what doubt ignores.
- The deeper the faith the louder the sound
We need to realize
2. Sounds Unlock a Supernatural Sequence.
- In Ezekiel 37, the bones rattled before they came to life, and only after Ezekiel spoke.
- 2 Samuel 5:24, David had to wait for the sound of marching before moving.
- God often gives a signal before releasing strategy or strength.
We need to realize
3. The sound is an invitation to attention, not performance
- Elijah didn’t run when he heard the sound — he bowed and prayed.
- Hebrew posture of travailing prayer — birthing what has been spiritually heard.
Q: Are we bowed in prayer or just hyped in the sound of the current noise?
When you’re on the verge of a divine move, it will be the faithful who hear it first.

Congregation Recital
“We declare with one voice: We hear the sound of Heaven breaking into our lives! The rain of God’s presence is here, the breath of His Spirit is reviving, and the power of His Word is advancing. This is the beginning of a move that will not be stopped!”
