Be ROOTED in your relationship with God, strong to withstand the storms of life, through DAILY .

When are they done? DAILY. What do you personally do daily that is affecting your life?

What are they? Time DEVOTED to God! What do you give devoted time to in your life? That means you care about it!

Jesus devoted time to be spent teaching and helping his disciples, then they were filled with the and were able to teach others about what Jesus taught and who he is and what he did for us.

Acts 2:42-47 — 42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching

How do we know what the apostles’ teaching is? We read the

Acts 17:10-12   (the Bereans) “…They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the …”

Why do daily devotions?

  1. Like the Bereans, to know the .
  2. To be rooted in a with God.

HOW TO DO DAILY DEVOTIONS:

  1. Get a Bible, and set aside time to focus.
  2. SOAP:
    1. – a verse or two or paragraph…AND what’s behind it, in front of it, and where it is in the Bible.
    2. – Who, what, when, where, why, how? What’s this say about God? Humanity? Me? What to believe? What to do or not to do?
    3. – What do I need to do in response? Who do I need to tell? How shall I serve God and others as a result of this?
    4. – “Help me believe, and act on what you’re telling me…”
  3. PRAYER:
    1. – “God, I praise you today, you are powerful and creative and good and compassionate…thank you for….”
    2. – “God I confess…and I turn to you with my full attention and obedience…”
    3. – “Help me believe, and act on what you’re telling me….and help meet these daily needs today…”
    4. – “I’ve made my needs and desires known – but I yield to YOUR WILL to be done…”

And tomorrow, repeat! 🙂
