Rooted in WORSHIP
April 13, 2025 / Cornerstone Global Methodist ChurchJohn 12:12-19
SUNDAY begins “Holy Week” that includes a series of services to help orient our lives around the Son of God named .
What did the early Jesus-followers shout to worship Jesus when he rode into Jerusalem one last time on a donkey like the prophetic ‘King’? !
Who have you yelled, shouted, or screamed for?
What have you donated money for?
Luke 19:37 says, “the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the they had seen.”
Who do you know who can give life after death?
Do you believe Jesus can?
One guy knew for SURE that Jesus had the power to give life after death, because Jesus raised him to life after he’d died and had been dead for four days! His name was .
Some ways to think about what might compete with Jesus in your life for your worship:
- What do we think about when we wake up and when we go to sleep?
- What do we talk the most about?
- What decorates our houses?
- What do we choose to spend money on?
- What do we donate to?
What MIGHT compete with Jesus for YOUR worship? (MULTILINE)
Put all of those things at Jesus’ feet as you pray, just to make sure He and you know that these things should be secondary to Him the Primary focus of our worship.
John his disciple wrote: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus has created both the closest star to us we call the , and the nerve in the back of our eyeball that enables us to see by the light that star. He created it all — and is worthy of our worship now and forever.
Let’s use our voice like those believers on Palm Sunday and worship Jesus!
