Scripture Reading James 5:13-20

James 5:13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray.

PRAY – !   Not as the last-ditch backup plan…

James 5:13     Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.

CONNECT WITH MUSIC THAT LEADS YOU TO GOD WITH THANKS!!

James 5:14-15    Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.

CALL ON CHRISTIANS TO FOR YOU

James 5:16     Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

James 5:17-18.     Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

!   (did we mention that already??? )

James 5:19-20   My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

• What was the last time your prayers seemed to bring you closer to God? What did you say or do and what was the effect?
• What music helps you connect with God and praise Him with thankfulness?
• Is there anything you’d like to have the other Christians around you pray over you for or about?
• Who can you take steps to build a deeper relationship of empathy and truth telling with, that would create an accountable relationship of loving, gentle confession and correction? Do you want this – why or why not?
