DON’T COME DOWN FROM THE WALL

Nehemiah 4

BIG IDEA:

ANYTIME GOD IS BUILDING SOMETHING, OPPOSITION WILL COME.

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous and strong. (1 Cor. 16:13 NIV)

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him (and look, he gives the same advice Paul gave) STANDING FIRM IN THE FAITH…” (1 Peter 5:8-9, NIV)

1 – OPPOSITION.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Cor. 10:5, NIV)

2 – OPPOSITION.

“I am carrying on a GREAT PROJECT and cannot go down.” (Nehemiah 6:3, NIV)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9, NIV)

3 – STAY ON THE WORK.

So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days. (Nehemiah 6:15, NIV)

Not every invitation deserves our attention.

When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were AFRAID and LOST THEIR SELF-CONFIDENCE, because they realized that this work had been done with the HELP OF GOD. (Nehemiah 6:16, NIV)

‘Not by might, nor by power, but by MY SPIRIT,’ says the Lord of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great crowd of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who ENDURED such opposition from sinners, so that you will NOT GROW WEARY and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-3, NIV)
