“When You Respond”

Pastor Josiah Nordgren

Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.

The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter).

“Deeper Faith in 2026”

Pastor Josiah Nordgren

January 4, 2026

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”

Discussion Questions

This weekend we kicked off the year with a brand-new series called Deeper Water.

In Luke 5, we find Peter in a moment of exhaustion and disappointment. He’s been trying the same thing over and over—fishing all night with nothing to show for it. He’s not believing for a miracle; he’s cleaning up disappointment. Peter is washing empty nets after a long, exhausting night, ready to pack it in and go home.

This is where Jesus tells Peter to go again—to go into deeper water and let his nets down for a catch. Everything in Peter wants to resist: his knowledge of the water, his exhaustion, his pride, his frustration. But more than all of that, Peter has just a little bit of faith. He lets down his nets, and the catch is so large that his nets begin to break.

This story isn’t about empty or full nets. It’s not even about overcoming disappointment. It’s about Jesus calling Peter into deeper water, Peter saying yes, and that yes changing the course of his life. In the same way, Jesus is calling us into deeper water—a deeper faith with Him.

Our focus for 2026 is Deeper Faith Together.

“In Awe Of His Birth”

Pastor Josiah Nordgren

December 21, 2025

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

– ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ (NIV‬‬)

Be in awe that the arms of God .

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.

– ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ (NIV‬‬)

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

– ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ (NIV‬‬)

Be in awe that the arms of God .

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

“In Awe of His Miracles!”

Pastor Jarrod Oda

December 14, 2025

“The central miracle asserted by Christians is the Incarnation. They say that God became Man. Every other miracle prepares for this, or exhibits this, or results from this.”  –C.S. Lewis

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

– ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬ ‭(NIV‬‬)

God asks to participate in the miracles that He does!

God’s got …so follow through!

From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.

– ‭‭Acts‬ ‭17‬:‭26‬-‭27‬ ‭(NIV‬‬)

I’m praying for to receive a miracle of !

Discussion Questions:

In Awe of His Miracles!

In this series we call Adoration, we are reclaiming our awe of Christ. We are taking the time to slow down and look at examples in the Bible to bring back the awe of Christ. Miracles led up to and surrounded Jesus’ birth, miracles surrounded His life and ministry here on earth, and Jesus still does miracles today! We looked at stories in the Bible that compare and contrast different responses to miracles, and from Mary and Zechariah we learned that if we want to regain our awe of miracles, we need a thankful, willing, and believing heart. And from the feeding of the 5,000 and Peter walking on water…Jesus wants us to participate in the miracles that He does. Even if our faith fails…God’s got you!

Here are the questions for you to discuss:

  1. Are you more like Zechariah or Mary when it comes to miracles? How did you arrive at that?
  2. In Luke 1:38 Mary says: “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” What is the last “word” God has given you? Did you fulfill it yet or not?
  3. Pastor Jarrod shared some stories of the small miracles the other staff members told him; share a small miracle the Lord has done for you!
  4. In feeding the 5,000 Jesus provided the miracle and it passed through the hands of the Disciples.  Share a story of a miracle God asked you to participate in.
  5. How did you come to faith in Jesus Christ? What were some of the miracles that happened in the process.
