Time Guardrails
March 23, 2025 / Mr. James Rousseau / All Souls Anglican ChurchGuardrails – Part 3
Time Guardrails
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all you ways submit to Him, and He will make your path’s straight”
The Purpose of Guardrails: To Protect not to Restrict
· Guardrails on the road are designed to keep vehicles from going off the path, ensuring safety even when conditions are challenging.
o Similarly, God’s instructions are not arbitrary rules; they are there to protect us.
· In the same way that a guardrail keeps us from falling into danger, God’s word keeps us from sin and harm.
TIME
Growing up, time seemed to drag. As an adult, it tends to fly.
· Rollercoaster
· Time is not on our side!
· Back to the future….
· We would all like to go back in time and change some things
Psalm 39:4-7 4 “Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. 5 You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.
6 “Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be. 7 “But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.”
God has given each of us a set number of days on this earth, and how we spend those days reflects how we value the time He has entrusted to us.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
When we align our schedules with God’s priorities, our lives become more purposeful and meaningful.
Matthew 6:33 calls us to live a life that is centered on Christ and His teachings, Prioritizing His kingdom and righteous above all else.
Ephesians 5:15-16 (Paul says) “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
This verse teaches us not only the importance of time but the urgency of using it wisely.
Time is a precious resource, and how we use it reflects our values and priorities.
Colossians 4:5(Paul urges) “Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.”
We are called to reflect the priorities of God’s kingdom.
Time management is not just about being efficient. It’s about being intentional with the moments God has given us.
Practical Steps for Managing Our Time
Prioritize Prayer and Reflection
Set Clear Priorities
Learn to Say No
Rest and Renewal
2 Corinthians 4:17(Paul reminds us that) “this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.”
The time we invest in God’s kingdom, the relationships we nurture, and the service we offer — these are eternal investments.
We will not regret the time we spend in prayer, in serving others, or in growing in our faith.
