WHY THE RESURRECTION MATTERS – Part 4
Vernon Zook May 3, 2026
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you… And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8 (NLT)
1. GOD LOVES EVERYONE AND WANTS THEM .
The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. – 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT)
2. THE CHURCH’S MISSION IS TO FOR JESUS.
…God would use the church to show to the world His manifold wisdom, that is the mystery of Christ. – Ephesians 3:10
We are Christ’s ambassadors, and God is using us to speak to you. We urge you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, “Be reconciled to God!” – 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)
3. GOD USES ME TO PEOPLE.
You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world…let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. – Matthew 5:13-16 (NLT)
4. PEOPLE HEAR THE GOOD NEWS THROUGH .
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” – Romans 10:13-15 (NLT)
What do I say?
• Your Story:
What was my life before I met Christ?
What is my life like since Christ changed my life?
• Good News:
“God loves you so much that he sent Jesus to come to the earth to live, to die, and to come back to life, and if anyone believes in him and receives his forgiveness and salvation, they can live an abundant life here on the earth and be with Jesus forever in eternity.”
WILL THERE BE ANYONE IN HEAVEN BECAUSE OF ME?
HAVE I BELIEVED IN THE GOOD NEWS FOR MYSELF?
