Built to Last

(Matthew 7:24-27) 24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

(Proverbs 10:8) The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces.

1. Hearing doesn’t transform us… does

(James 1:22) Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

2. Your is revealed in the storm

A life built on convenience will collapse under pressure.

(Matthew 6:19-21) “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
