“I am Barabbas”

Mark 15:1-15

The next scene in Jesus’ trials takes us to Pilate, the Roman ruler over Jerusalem. He questions Jesus
and finds no reason to execute him, and yet the Jewish mob demands crucifixion. Instead of setting
Jesus free, he sets Barabbas, the murdering insurrectionist free. And again, we can’t miss it – The just
is condemned, while the unjust goes free.

Three clear outcomes to the claims of Christ that establish the foundation of the Gospel message …

1. The Powerful are Confused: Pilate [15:1-5](MULTILINE)
2. The Unjust are Released: Barabbas [15:6-11](MULTILINE)
3. The Just One is Sacrificed: Jesus [15:12-15](MULTILINE)
