    1) Grow

speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

      Ephesians 4:15-16

It’s not so much about “am I growing?” but it’s about “am I growing in the right direction?”

      2) Biblical

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

      Acts 2:42-47

Stanley Hauerwas- “The church is not a collection of individuals who happen to believe the same things.”

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

      2 Timothy 3:16-17

C.S. Lewis– “God works on us through one another.”

Dietrich Bonhoeffer- “The Christian needs another Christian who speaks God’s Word to him.”

      3) Community

“Koinonia”- participation, partnership, shared life, mutual belonging

The NT contains over 50 “one another” commands:

      • Love one another (John 13:34)
      • Encourage one another (Hebrews 3:13)
      • Bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2)
      • Confess your sins to one another (James 5:16)
      • Serve one another (Galatians 5:13)

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

      Hebrews 10:24-25

John Mark Comer- “isolation is the enemy’s playground”
