GRIEF – The intense, natural, and multi-faceted emotional response to a significant loss, most commonly the death of a loved one.

GRIEF IS NOT LACK OF FAITH; IT IS WITH NOWHERE TO GO.

When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was DEEPLY MOVED in spirit and TROUBLED… (John 11:33)

Jesus wept. (John 11:35)

EVEN IN DEATH, GOD’S IS STILL AT WORK.

1 – GRIEF IS THE OF LOVE

O my Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you… (2 Sam. 18:33)

2 – GRIEF REMINDS US WE WERE FOR ETERNITY

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart…  (Ecclesiastes 3:11, NIV)

Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin. (Romans 5:12)

I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die. (John 11:25, NIV)

3 – GRIEF AND HOPE CAN

‘Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.  (1 Thessalonians 4:13, NIV)

“To be absent of the body is to be at home with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8)

“For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21)

‘When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  (1 Corinthians 15:54-57, NIV)
