Sacred Season 2026: Protection
January 18, 2026 / Dr. Allen Griffin / Winston Salem First AssemblyThis is our final week of Sacred Season!
Sacred Season is a specific time for our church family to put first things first. We acknowledge God as our priority by fasting those things that are not sacred to demonstrate our desire for the Lord!
This 21-day WS First church fasting, and prayer season is special.
Please consider what/how you would like to fast THIS WEEK.
- Daniel Fast: eliminating meat and sweets/alcohol from your diet.
- Liquid Fast: soups and shakes only.
- Media Fast: eliminating social media/entertainment.
- Sunup to Sundown: eating only predawn and after dusk.
- Modified Fast: a personal sacrifice that releases your time for prayer.
- One Meal: Give up one meal per day for prayer and scripture study.
- Surrendering whatever I adore for the One!
We will pray (Monday through Saturday) from 12 noon to 1 pm in the auditorium. All are welcome! We will have worship and prayer each Wednesday evening starting at 6:30 pm
2026 is our year of MORE!
In 2026: Our Theme is “More than Enough!” and our proclamation is “More!”
El Shaddai: God Almighty.
When Abram heard that his nephew Lot had been captured, he mobilized the 318 trained men who had been born into his household. Then he pursued Kedorlaomer’s army until he caught up with them at Dan. There, he divided his men and attacked during the night. Kedorlaomer’s army fled, but Abram chased them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus. Abram recovered all the goods that had been taken, and he brought back his nephew Lot with his possessions and all the women and other captives.
After Abram returned from his victory over Kedorlaomer and all his allies, the king of Sodom went out to meet him in the valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley). And Melchizedek, the king of Salem and a priest of God Most High, brought Abram some bread and wine. Melchizedek blessed Abram with this blessing: “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who has defeated your enemies for you.”
Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered.
The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give back my people who were captured. But you may keep for yourself all the goods you have recovered.” Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I solemnly swear to the Lord, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, that I will not take so much as a single thread or sandal thong from what belongs to you. Otherwise, you might say, ‘I am the one who made Abram rich.’ I will accept only what my young warriors have already eaten, and I request that you give a fair share of the goods to my allies—Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre.’
Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.” Genesis 14:14-24, 15:1 (NLT)
Abraham was prepared:
Abraham was determined
Abraham was courageous
Abraham was visited
Abraham was changed
Abraham was protected
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
*Abraham trusted in the Lord for His protection, provision, and His power!
We will win this fight!
