WEEK 48

SCRIPTURE

(Highlighted story of the week)

But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this.
He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.
1 John 1:9

OBSERVATION

(What is this scripture saying?)

God forgives us when we confess that we’ve done something wrong and He has the ability to cleanse us from all the bad things that we do and makes us new!

APPLICATION

(How can I apply this scripture to my life?)

Parents, tell your child(ren):

Have you ever felt embarrassed or bad for doing something wrong? Did you know that when we tell God that we were wrong and we’re sorry, He says, “no worries it’s ok”?

Ages 4-6:

Tell your child a story of when you have done something wrong and how God forgave you! Encourage your child that God does the same thing for them and ask how it makes them feel! Have them write or draw about the emotion that they feel.

Ages 7-9:

Write a letter to God telling Him about something bad that you have done and let Him know that you’re sorry. In your letter ask for His forgiveness and thank Him for His mercy and grace. Afterwards, know that God has fully forgiven you and you don’t have to feel guilt or shame anymore!

PRAYER

(Parents: Have your child repeat this prayer or pray/write their own prayer.)

“Dear God, thank You so much that You love us enough to wipe away all of the wrong and bad things that we have done or said. Thank You for your mercy and grace that takes away any guilt or shame that we feel and You make us brand new! We love You! In Jesus’ name, amen!

Ages 10+

1 John 1:1-10; Psalm 119:153-176; Proverbs 28:23-24
