Stress Out
“Principles of Peace”
11/9/25
Pastor Mark England

Luke 21:34 (NIV) “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.

When the trap closes, we often ask “?”
will cause us to ask that same question… “How did I get here?”

The good news is the Bible is very vocal on the subject.
There are more verses about than heaven and hell combined.
, .

Luke 15:11-12 (CSB) He also said, “A man had two sons. 12 The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the estate I have coming to me.’ So he distributed the assets to them.

We’re Stressed Out
When we’re with having .

Luke 15:13 (CSB) Not many days later, the younger son gathered together all he had and traveled to a distant country…

We’re Stressed Out
When we want .

Luke 15:13 (CSB) … where he squandered his estate in foolish living.

There is a condition within the human heart to squander wealth in wild, foolish living.

Americans spend dollars in gambling alone.

We’re Stressed Out
When we engage in behavior.

Luke 15:14 (CSB) After he had spent everything…

We’re Stressed Out
When we we have.

The average credit card has in debt.
The average American has of them.

Luke 15:14 (CSB) … there was a severe famine struck that country, and he had nothing.

We’re Stressed Out
When we’re for storms.

Difficult days are .
It’s a part of life.

Matthew 5:45 (CSB) For he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

In this life on earth, we are going to have stormy days.
Some of them are .
Many of them are .

Spiritual warfare intensifies in the months.
If you say “Well I don’t believe in demons…”
Guess what…

2 Corinthians 2:11 (NIV) I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

There is demonic activity that increases when revival increases.
You have authority in Jesus name to bind it, rebuke it, and resist it.

Luke 15:17 (CSB) When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired workers have more than enough food, and here I am dying of hunger!

The first step to getting rid of the financial stress in your life is…
.

Run to the .

Isaiah 9:6 (CSB) For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders.
He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

“Prince”
Sar: Lord, chief, general,
.

The word “” is used 7,800 times in your Bible.
The word “” is used 36 times.
Everybody wants a “”, few people want a “.”

You don’t just need a Savior, you need a .
“You tell me how I’m doing it and that’s how I will do it.”

When you do life His way, you will get…

Sar Shalom:
, , wholeness, completeness, contentment.

When you step outside of God’s and protection you will discover there isn’t any out there!

and always go together.

Psalm 4:8 (CSB) I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Lord, make me live in safety.

Psalm 29:11 (CSB) The Lord gives his people strength; the Lord blesses his people with peace.

Acts 10:36 (NLT) This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

Romans 5:1 (CSB) Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the Sar Shalom. The point is…
Jesus may be your , but the reason you have no peace is because .

The Prince has Principles of Peace.

Most of our comes from God’s principles.

Six Principles of Financial Peace.
1. . (The tithe.)

Malachi 3:7-12 (CSB) “Since the days of your ancestors, you have turned from my statutes; you have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of Armies.
Yet you ask, “How can we return?” 8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me!” “How do we rob you?” you ask. “By not making the payments of the tenth and the contributions.
You are suffering under a curse, yet you—the whole nation—are still robbing me. 10 Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this way,” says the Lord of Armies. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure.
11 I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not ruin the produce of your land and your vine in your field will not fail to produce fruit,” says the Lord of Armies.
12 “Then all the nations will consider you fortunate, for you will be a delightful land,” says the Lord of Armies.

2. . (Gratitude)
Psalm 23:1 (CSB) The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need.

1 Timothy 6:6-10 (CSB) But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out. 8 If we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. 9 But those who want to be rich fall into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Proverbs 30:8-9 (CSB) …Give me neither poverty nor riches but give me only my daily bread. 9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal and so dishonor the name of my God.

3. . (The space between yourself and your limits.)

Proverbs 21:20 (NIV) In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has.

The key to margin is .

“I thought maybe we could make gingerbread houses, and eat cookie dough, and go ice skating, and maybe even hold hands.”
-Buddy The Elf-

4. .

Psalm 112:5 (CSB) Good will come to the one who lends generously and conducts his business fairly.

Proverbs 11:25 (CSB) A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water.

Generosity is not an , it’s a quality.

5. .

Proverbs 20:23 (NIV) The Lord detests differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him.

2 Corinthians 8:21 (CSB) We are giving careful thought to do what is right, not only before the Lord but also before people.

6. .

John 16:24 (CSB) Until now you have asked for nothing in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

We value way too much.
It’s a great motto for a , and a terrible motto for us .

Luke 15:18-20 (CSB) I’ll get up, go to my father, and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. 19 I’m no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired workers.”’ 20 So he got up and went to his father. But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.
