Inside Out! Revealing What’s Real – Sermon Notes               Pastor Brad Myers

Integrity Impact!                                                   October 19, 2025

Inside Out in Motion

  • Week 1: Who you are (Identity).
  • Last Week: What you seek (Priorities).
  • Week 3: How you live it out
  • Week 4: What others see

Today: Integrity Impact! How You Live It Out:

Dictionary: Integrity: Having moral and ethical principles.

Biblical Definition:

“Integrity is the spiritual alignment of the heart where belief and behavior agree — the inner wholeness produced when the Word and the Spirit bring every part of your life into submission to truth.”

  • Absolute Truth (God’s Truth) What God says it is
  • Relative Truth (World’s Truth) What the world feels it is

“An Inside Out life doesn’t start with your behavior — it starts with your heart. It’s what happens when God’s Word cuts through the noise, and His Spirit begins to reshape what’s broken on the inside until it looks like Jesus on the outside.”

  • It’s not polishing behavior.
  • It’s God’s Word performing spiritual surgery.

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)

Historical Context

  • Author not identified: Paul-like theology written in ancient Greek style.
  • Audience: Jewish Christians pressured to compromise their new integrity and impact in Jesus Christ!
  • Purpose: Writer; Jesus is still Better!

“alive & active”

“God’s Word is not only historical but operational. It doesn’t simply record what God once said — it reveals what God is still saying.”

  • “Alive”: God is still in operation.
  • “Active”: convicting, creating, revealing, restoring, correcting, or healing!

“God’s Word still carries the power to perform what He speaks.”

“Penetrates (what it does) like a double-edge sword (how it does it)”

  • Precision & accuracy.
  • It knows exactly where to go and what to pinpoint.

“The Word of God identifies attitudes and hidden motives of the heart that even we can’t see. It doesn’t confuse the outer and inner life — it pinpoints what’s flesh-driven and what’s Spirit-led.

  • Inside: Battle of flesh against Spirit
  • Outside: The Impact of who won the battle!

“penetrates” (what God’s Word does)

  • God’s Word Reaches What Nothing Else Can
  • Greek“to pierce through”
    • Past your emotions, excuses, reasoning, and reputation.
    • Straight to the real you.

“It’s impossible to ever say, “God’s Word doesn’t feed me;” because when Scripture is read, preached, or spoken— it’s God Himself piercing into your life! If God’s Word doesn’t penetrate you, it’s because you already decided not to receive it!”

“double-edge sword” (how God’s Word does it)

Division inside all of us

  • Relative Truth: How the world sees it!
  • Absolute Truth: What God says it is!

“The Spirit uses the Word like a scalpel — cutting between what you feel and what God reveals.”

“it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Purpose of God’s Word)

  • To realign your thinking for a behavior change for outside impact.

Summary of Hebrews 4:12

  • The Word lives: it’s not silent words; it’s the living breath of God speaking
  • The Word moves: active and unstoppable, working even when you can’t see it.
  • The Word penetrates: cutting through emotion, pride, and pretense to reach the real you.
  • The Word judges: it exposes what’s flesh-driven and revealing what’s Spirit-led.
  • The Word reveals: brings hidden motives and heart conditions into the light,
  • Then Word refines: removes what doesn’t belong and reshapes your thoughts
  • The Word restores: reorders your heart into divine alignment.
  • The Word renews: transforms you inside until your outside reflects Jesus.

“That’s why a person cannot claim to be a disciple of Jesus Christ then publicly celebrate the world’s sin! What’s on the inside always shows up on the outside!”

“When truth and transformation take root inside your life, integrity becomes your identity, and impact becomes your evidence.”

Integrity is the Inner Alignment That Guides You

Proverbs 11:3 (NIV)

  • Solomon’s wise sayings: righteousness & wickedness, truth & deception, honesty & hypocrisy.
  • Not perfection: it’s alignment: what’s true inside is visible outside.

“Integrity is when your private conviction matches your public conduct.”

“The opposite of integrity isn’t imperfection — it’s duplicity (a divided heart).”

Psalm 86:11 (NKJV)

  • David prayed for a united heart.

“Every time you obey God when no one’s watching, you’re closing the gap between who you say you are and who you really are.”

Impact Flows From Your Inner Integrity Alignment

Matthew 12:35 (NIV)

  • Heated encounter between Jesus and Pharisees.
  • They accused Him of casting out demons by the power of Satan (Beelzebul) instead of the Spirit of God.
  • Jesus responds by exposing their hypocrisy and spiritual blindness.
  • He warns them that their words reveal their hearts.
  • Real inside change doesn’t stay internal; it shows up in conduct and consistency.
  • Why Disciples of Christ can’t celebrate the world’s sin!

“You can’t claim integrity from a spiritual transformation if you never produce an outside change. God’s Word ends up just informational and not transformational.”

Consistency Is Your Integrity in Motion (Outside proof of your inside change)

Titus 2:7–8 (NIV)

Background

  • Paul writes this to Titus, a young pastor leading the church on island of Crete.
  • Infamous for corruption, deceit, and immorality.
  • Paul calls them; “liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”
  • Paul tells Titus his impact won’t come through argument or image — it’ll come through authentic, consistent integrity!
  • Paul teaches: “Integrity is your greatest teaching tool.”

Titus 2:7–8 bridges everything.

  • Integrity (Inside): personal alignment with God’s truth.
  • Impact (Outside): credibility that draws respect, even from skeptics.
  • Consistency: the proof of transformation. Doesn’t waver under pressure.
  • Paul told Titus to lead by example, not performance. To let integrity do the talking.

“Consistent integrity is what reveals what’s real — from the inside out.”

Proverbs 20:7 (NLT)

  • “godly walk with integrity”: Godly inner truth is a consistent guiding pattern.
  • “blessed are their children who follow them.” integrity outlives the individual; it becomes generational influence.

Example: Integrity of Billy Graham

  • Young evangelist in 1948
  • Scandals involving preachers and money were all over the news.
  • Graham knew that if the Gospel was going to have impact, his life had to match his message.
  • Hotel room in Modesto, California, he gathered his team.
  • Cliff Barrows, George Beverly Shea, and Grady Wilson — and they made four simple commitments. They called it “The Modesto Manifesto.”

Purity:  Avoid situations that could lead to suspicion or compromise, the team pledged never to be alone with a woman other than their wives.  The “Billy Graham Rule“.

Power:  Don’t seek overly dramatic publicity for their crusades.

Money: Ensure financial integrity in everything.

Pride: Maintain a cooperative spirit with the local church; pledged to avoid criticizing local churches or pastors.

Quote: “We made those decisions before God, because we wanted our integrity to guard our impact.” Billy Graham

  • Commitment became the moral compass for the next 60 years.

“Integrity is our inner alignment; impact is outward evidence.

“Lord, make my heart whole……and my witness bold…….Let my private walk……match my public words……May my faith produce fruit…..and may my life reveal Your light…. from the inside out.”
