Shoes – Gospel of Peace

Ephesians 6:13-15/Romans 5:1-5

• Roman soldiers wore shoes that were studded to provide good traction and
• The gospel of peace refers to faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection.
  • In the context of spiritual warfare, faith is the we stand on.

The Gospel of Peace provides several important elements of faith, Romans 5:1-5

• PEACE with God, v. 1.
  • Jesus’ death and resurrection give us with God.
    • Before salvation our sin makes us of God.
    • After salvation we are at peace with God and united in relationship and purpose.
      • We are on the same team family/ of Christ.
• ACCESS to God, v. 2a.
  • Jesus’ death and resurrection give us direct to God (Priesthood of the believer).
  • Direct access to God our faith, Hebrews 4:14-16.
    • Helps us stand firm in what we believe – “our confession.”
    • Assures us that Jesus our struggles.
    • Gives us to approach God because we know our sins are forgiven.
• HOPE in God, vv. 2b-5.
  • The source of our hope is that Jesus will someday defeat sin and take us to heaven.
    • Hope in Jesus is not thinking but a guaranteed certainty.
  • When Satan attacks, faith enables us not only to stand firm but to actually
    • Suffering – Endurance – Proven Character – Hope, vv. 3-4.
  • The Holy Spirit in us the guarantee that our hope is v. 5.

The Gospel of Peace reminds us that God is in control, not Satan!

• Satan will attack, but he can never defeat God or us from God.
• The gospel of peace is a message we should share with others.

Suggestions for this week

Faith in Jesus gives us direct access to God.

• Do you feel like God listens when you pray?
• Do you feel distant from God?
  • Ask God to help you see where He is at work in you and around you.
  • Ask for His help with struggles you are facing.
