“Overflowing With Gratitude”

Luke 17:11-19 (CSB) While traveling to Jerusalem, he passed between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he entered a village, ten men with leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13 and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 When he saw them, he told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And while they were going, they were cleansed. 15 But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God. 16 He fell facedown at his feet, thanking him. And he was a Samaritan. 17 Then Jesus said, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? 18 Didn’t any return to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And he told him, “Get up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.”

Overflowing With Gratitude

Have you ever taken a road trip and something happened along the way?

Jesus is on His way to Jerusalem for Palm Sunday, where the same people who would later Him would first Him.

Most of Jesus’ miracles happened .

Jesus was never so focused on the that He missed the opportunity of along the journey.

Are you missing the miracles in the because you are only focusing on the ?

When you’re a , you’re dying to grow up and move out.
When you , you’re dying to go to college.
When you’re in , you’re dying to graduate.
When you , you’re dying to start your career.
When you start your , you’re dying to get married and have children.
When you have , you’re dying for them jokers to get up out your house!
When , you’re dying for them to get married so you can have grandchildren.
Then after that, you’re dying to only to look up and realize… .
You’ve never come around to because you were staring at the destination not realizing all the is in the journey.

Luke 17:11 (CSB) While traveling to Jerusalem, he passed between Samaria and Galilee

Luke 17:11 gives us great . It reminds us that Jesus will stop for you when you call on His Name.

Leprosy meant — living outside the gates, from community. It was and led only to .

Being diagnosed with leprosy meant was the only thing you had to look forward to.

Leprosy is a Biblical correlation to .

Sin , sin , and sin , and the only remedy is .
Unless shows up. Jesus is the , the , and the .

Romans 10:13 (CSB) For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

When the lepers saw Jesus, they . He allowed them to Him.

No matter your , Jesus is not too far out of .

The lepers recognized two things.
1. They recognized because they had heard about Him.
2. They recognized they were .

If you don’t recognize both, you can’t be !

Some know they’re lepers, but they don’t recognized .
Some go to church and recognize Jesus, but they don’t know they are .

will take you away from the , but when you realize that you haven’t received the punishment you deserve, your gratitude shifts.

Luke 17:12-13 (CSB) They stood at a distance 13 and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

Grace is giving someone something they deserve.
Mercy is withholding something they deserve.

Luke 17:14 (CSB) When he saw them, he told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And while they were going, they were cleansed.

People ask, “Why do I need to if God already knows anyway?”
Because Jesus responded to .

Luke 17:14 (CSB) When he saw them, he told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And while they were going, they were cleansed.

They had to move in to experience what Jesus had already declared.

Miracles come with .
Don’t get in the going—believe in what the Lord says and .

Everything God is going to do, .
But a lot of us are still sick because we’re .

2 Corinthians 5:7 (CSB) For we walk by faith, not by sight.

The healing took place when the lepers were “”.
Miracles happen as your faith is , not as you’re staying or sitting.

What do you say to the one who is moving, doing what God has called them to do, but have not experienced what He said He would do?
!

Romans 5:3-4 (CSB) we also boast in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance,4 endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.

James 1:12 (CSB) Blessed is the one who endures trials, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Romans 12:12 (CSB) Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer.

Romans 8:28 (CSB) We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

If it’s not yet, then God’s not yet!

Luke 17:15 (CSB) But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God. 16 He fell face down at his feet, thanking him. And he was a Samaritan.

Only one man turned back to glorify Jesus. He didn’t just see healing, but he saw .

When he saw something the other nine didn’t, he !

Luke 17:17-19 (CSB) Then Jesus said, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? 18 Didn’t any return to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And he told him, “Get up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.”

Draw near to and !

Hebrews 4:16 (ESV) Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

If you’ve experienced the mercy of Jesus Christ, and give Him .
