Stand Strong!

Ephesians 6:10-13

September 14, 2025

Paul says there are three things we should do to be prepared for spiritual warfare.

  • Be strengthened by God, v. 10.
    • God is (omnipotent) and no one is able to stand against Him.
    • God is always ready to in and through us.
  • Put on the armor of God, v. 11a.
    • Paul simply means we should have a faith that impacts life.
      • The key is to look at God, not at Satan – our relationship with God is critical!
    • This is the same concept as putting on the self, 4:20-24.
      • We cannot be strong spiritually when we are living in sin.
  • Stand against the devil, v. 11b-13.
    • Do not be fooled! We are in a real with real spiritual forces!
      • Paul emphasizes that we will struggle or with these evil beings.
      • Satan has a lot of influence on the world.
    • Satan is a created being who is by God (Job 1:12, 2:6).
      • He has a network of demons (fallen angels) who serve him.
      • He is a who blinds, misleads, and confuses.
    • When we rely on God, we have nothing to fear from Satan or demons.
      • Living a life of faith helps us be when the battles come, v. 13.

Spiritual Warfare Sermon Series Overview

September 14, 2025

We are starting a sermon series on spiritual warfare. In the coming weeks, we will learn about the armor of God from Ephesians 6:10-20. Please take time to read through the Bible passages listed below. Each one will help us develop a better understanding of what the armor of God is and how to use it. Keep in mind that the armor of God is not intended to equip us to seek out evil and overcome it but to draw close to God and trust Him for wisdom and protection. Our place is to trust Him in all we do by walking with Him in a genuine daily relationship.

  • Stand Strong! Eph. 6:10-13

Our focus should be on developing a love relationship with God. Walking daily with Him is the best way to fight evil.

  • Belt of Truth. Eph. 6:14/Philippians 1:9-10

The truth of God helps us distinguish between right and wrong. Know the truth.

  • Breastplate of Righteousness. Eph. 6:14/Philippians 3:8-14

Knowledge of God’s truth helps us live with purity and righteousness. Apply the truth.

  • Shoes of the Gospel. Eph. 6:15/Romans 5:1-5

The message of the gospel is the foundation for everything we believe. It is what a life of faith is built upon.

  • Shield of Faith. Eph. 6:16/Hebrews 11:6

We can trust God to lead and protect in every circumstance and situation of life. Victory in battle belongs to Him.

  • Helmet of Salvation. Eph. 6:17/John 10:27-29

We can have absolute confidence in our salvation. It is purely the work of God and as such can never be lost.

  • Sword of the Spirit. Eph. 6:17/Mark 4:1-20

The Bible is the word of God, His message, and has everything we need for faith and life.

  • Pray Strong! Eph. 6:18-20

Prayer is our essential line of communication with God. It is how we grow in faith and uphold each other in daily life.
