Sermon Talks
- Can you think of a time recently when your actions didn’t quite line up with what you know God wants for you? What happened?
- What does “rejoice with those who rejoice” mean to you? Can you think of someone you can celebrate with this week?
- Who might be sad or hurting in your life right now (a friend, a family member, someone at work) that you could show extra care to this week?
- Paul warns against pride and says to “associate with the humble.” How does pride affect our friendships? What helps you be humble?
- “Do not repay anyone evil for evil.” Why is this command so challenging, and what strength do we need from God to obey it?
- Paul says to “bless those who persecute you” and be kind to enemies. What’s the main goal of responding to evil with good, and why should we leave vengeance to God?
- “Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.” What does it mean to be “conquered by evil” in your life? How can choosing good help you win against negative things?
- We heard the Holy Spirit helps us. How does knowing this change how you approach these commands? What’s one prayer for God’s help this week?
Pray about it: Meditate on God’s Word (Romans 12:3-8) and this week’s message.
Adoration: What can I praise God for in light of what this teaches me?
Confession: What sin can I confess because of what this teaches me?
Thanksgiving: What can I thank God for in light of what he has done?
Supplication: What do I need to ask of God in order to grow in light of this?
