Combating the Darkness
July 13, 2025 / Fall Line ChurchFor a world that contains so much beauty there is just as much chaos, uncertainty, negativity, turmoil, contention, and darkness that we have to deal with. Sometimes it’s out of our control but sometimes we bring ourselves into the darkness and bring turmoil on ourselves.
How do we trust in God in the midst of chaos? In the darkness? Maybe we are dealing with turmoil in your household or with a loved one. People slandering you. Struggling with sin or a tragedy. Whatever it is you’re experiencing a darkness, deflating situation. So how do we remain faithful, steadfast and true to who God has called us to in the midst of situations like this? How do we combat the darkness, the hopelessness? How do we remain a light, shine our light
(Psalm 1) Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction
(Genesis 3:1) Now the serpent was cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made
(Ephesians 6:12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms
(Psalm 46:1-3) God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. That is why we are not afraideven when the earth quakes or the mountains topple into the depths of the sea.Water roars and foams, and mountains shake at the surging waves

If we commit to a fervent prayer life and remain in God’s word, understand that Satan is a deceiver, always being mindful of his schemes, and rest assured that God loves us there is no darkness that can overcome us or keep us from the life God has called us to.
