Jesus Calls Us
Luke 5:1–11
- Jesus steps into Peter’s ordinary world.
- Peter obeys even when it seems illogical.
- Result: a miraculous catch.
- Key Point: Jesus calls us where we are, but doesn’t leave us there.
We are disqualified, But Jesus Still Calls
Luke 5:8–10 & John 21
- Peter’s first instinct: “I’m a sinful man.”
- Later: He denies Jesus and retreats back to fishing.
- Jesus calls again — same sea, same miracle.
Jesus Redeems and Sends Again
John 21:9–17
- Jesus cooks breakfast — grace before correction.
- Peter is gently restored: “Do you love me?”
- He is not only forgiven, but recommissioned: “Feed my sheep.”
Fishing Without Jesus = Empty Nets
- Peter and the disciples fished all night… and caught nothing.
- It wasn’t a lack of effort — it was a lack of Jesus.
- Without Him, even the best fishermen catch nothing.
- But when He says, “Cast your nets,” there’s breakthrough.
Final Challenge
- Are you stuck in distance or failure?
- Are you casting in your own strength — and coming up empty?
- Will you let Jesus speak again?
- Will you cast your net one more time?
If Peter can feed sheep, and Samson can push pillars…
Then Jesus can still use you.
He is still calling. Will you answer?
