Sermon Title: 6:8 – Love Mercy – Micah 6:8

Group Discussion:

Read Micah 6:8, Matthew 9:12, & 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 – Learn what loving mercy means. How do these verses help us explore what it means to truly “love mercy” rather than just to act mercifully? Share examples of “simply acting mercifully” versus actually “loving mercy.” Discuss specific practices that might help us develop a loving mercy the way Jesus desires of us as His disciples.

Loving mercy is not a compromise: How do the verses above reveal that loving mercy is not a weakness or moral compromise, but a reflection of the Lord’s heart?

Loving mercy is not an occasional kindness: Discuss what it might look like to make mercy a way of life instead of temporary acts of kindness.

Loving mercy is not a burdensome duty: Discuss how mercy is meant to flow from a transformed heart rather than an obligation. Discuss practices to help shift our mindset so that mercy becomes a joy rather than a chore.

Loving mercy is not a doormat mentality: Discuss how loving mercy is not a passive behavior but a courageous expression of the Lord’s character. How can we practice mercy with truth, boldness, boundaries, and accountability while maintaining a Jesus-centered mentality?

Read Micah 7:18, 2 Peter 3:9, & Titus 3:3-7 – Consider the Lord’s mercy toward you. What changes might we experience when we truly internalize how deeply the Lord has shown mercy to us? Discuss how this should shape the way we consider and extend mercy to others.

Read Romans 12:6-8 – Practice developing a lifelong mercy posture. Discuss strategies for how we can cultivate spiritual gifts that might result in cheerfully extending mercy: learning to love it…
