Jesus came for the people who are often overlooked and unseen.
Who was the woman at the well?
Read 2 Kings 17:22-24
Read John 4:16-18
Jesus deeply cares about the poor, the broken, the rejected, the overlooked, the forgotten, the abandoned, the despised, the orphaned, the widowed, and those who have royally messed-up so bad they don’t believe redemption is even an option.
Our task is to them.
He met her at her point of thirst, and offered her .
Where are you thirsty?
Here are some thoughtful self-reflection questions based on John 4:5–26, the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well:
-
What “wells” am I drawing from in my life that leave me spiritually thirsty?
-
Do I recognize the “living water” Jesus offers, or am I still trying to satisfy my soul in temporary ways?
-
What does “living water” mean to me personally, and how am I allowing it to transform my life?
-
How would I respond if Jesus met me where I least expected Him—like at a well in the middle of an ordinary day?
-
Am I open to having my assumptions or routines interrupted by God?
-
What do I learn from Jesus initiating the conversation with the woman, despite social and cultural barriers?
-
How honest am I with Jesus about my past and present struggles, like the woman who said, “I have no husband”?
-
What areas of my life need healing or confrontation that I’ve been avoiding?
-
What would it look like for me to invite Jesus into the places I usually keep hidden?
-
Do I worship God in spirit and truth, or is my worship more about location, tradition, or habit?
-
What does it mean to me to worship “in spirit and in truth”?
-
How can I deepen my worship to reflect a more authentic relationship with God?
-
How can I share my encounter with Jesus with others like the woman did when she left her jar and told her town?
-
What’s holding me back from telling others about what Jesus has done in my life?
-
Am I living in a way that makes others curious about the source of my hope and transformation?
