Road Songs: Seeking Peace
Psalm 122

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! 7 Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” 8 For my brothers and companions’ sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” 9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.  Psalm 122:6-9 (ESV)  (MULTILINE REVEAL SMALL)

Do you realize how much you need peace with God?

How can I have peace with God?

  1. Peace with God comes from it (122:1).

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”  Psalm 122:1 (ESV)

2 Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! 3 Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together, 4 to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. 5 There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.  – Psalm 122:2-5 (ESV)

  1. Peace with God comes from for it (122:6-9).

– Psalm 122:6-9 (ESV)

Jesus is the way to peace with God
In his death, Jesus made peace.

19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased  to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”  Colossians 1:19-20 (ESV)

Jesus is the way to peace with God
By His resurrection, Jesus gives peace.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” – John 14:27 (ESV)

19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” –  John 19:19-21 (ESV)
