Luke 19: 28 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it.’ ” 32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.” 35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. 37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: 38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” 40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” 41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”
- “Jesus > religion.”
- General Booth of the salvation army said: “I want my religion to be like my tea. I want it to be hot.
- Jesus, a man of power, was a man of the people.
- Religion focused on the outward. Jesus on the inward.
- Religion puts up barriers, Jesus pulls down barriers.

Jesus tells them to get the donkey, because he is fulfilling a prophecy and making a statement that He is the Messiah.
Prior to this moment Jesus had told everyone to not share who He was.
Matt 8: 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cured of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
Matt 16: 20 Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.
Matt 17:9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
- Jesus is making the statement NOW IS THE TIME! that He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords as he rides into Jerusalem on this donkey.

Prophicies fulfilled:
Gen 49: 10 The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his. 11 He will tether his donkey to a vine, his colt to the choicest branch; he will wash his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes
Zech 9: 9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Symbolism in the Prophecy:
- “Lowly and riding on a donkey” – Not a warhorse, but a sign of peace, humility, and servant leadership.
- A donkey was a king’s symbol of peace, while a horse was for war. Jesus came as the Prince of Peace, not a conquering warrior. He was riding in as a humble servant

31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it.’ ” 32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.”
- As servants of Jesus we are waiting to hear what the Lord needs.

Psalms 118: 24 This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. 25 O Lord, save us; O Lord, grant us success. 26Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you.
Luke 19:39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it
Here we see the real passion of Jesus. It was for his people. He loves you.

Jesus crys over Jerusalem. Are we crying about people around us. Evangelism is the heart of God?
Jesus had compassion on those who were going to crucify him. He was already walking in forgiveness. He planned ahead of time to forgive. Not a bad strategy.
42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.
- The day of crucifixion would be the ultimate peace deal.

Jesus would assuage the father and take His wrath upon himself so that we would be free to live in peace.
43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”
This words of Jesus was fulfilled in AD 70 when rome came and destroyed the temple.
Do you recognize that Jesus is coming to you now. Don’t miss out on the greatest story ever told.
45 Then he entered the temple area and began driving out those who were selling. 46 “It is written,” he said to them, “ ‘My house will be a house of prayer’; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”
47 Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him. 48 Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.
Do you still hang on the words of Jesus. They are life, they are peace, they are transformative.
